AUTHOR'S

BIOGRAPHY

Lois Richman, the author of WANTED: First Mate, is a full-time novelist.  In the past, she has sold articles and short stories of general interest to major publications, plus she was an editor and writer of gossip columns about the famous in Hollywood.  Along with the completion of WANTED and continuing to work on The Paulette Marshall Mystery Series, beginning with Key West Interlude, she is also a part-time college professor.

Returning to complete her formal education after years of freelancing, she graduated from Cal. State Northridge with a teaching certificate and a B.A. in English Literature.  She also has a Masters in Education and Reading.  She completed her paralegal training while working at Universal Studios and M.C.A. Records in California.

Raised in Florida, she has returned there to write and teach.  She recently put together the practice FCAT tests for the School Board of Palm Beach County.

Her hobbies are swimming, gardening, reading, and traveling.  She has toured and traveled extensively.  This includes a summer semester in London studying Shakespeare and a month in Greece collecting research for a future, as yet untitled novel.  At the hobby level, she owns a collection of famous designers’ dress sketches from well-known MGM films purchased during her Hollywood days.  She is also an animal activist who lives with her three dogs and a lone black cat who take up most of her living room couches.

Asked where she finds the material to write mysteries, the author admits that the daily newspaper supplies her with far more stories and plot lines than she could ever possibly use.
